The Lakeshore Artists Guild presents “Art Slam Manitowoc” Imagine two days of mixed media madness in downtown Manitowoc- Artists, Photographers, Videographers, Poets and more! Art Slam is an out-of-doors art event happening September 14-16, & 21, 2018. Artists will be invited to create art inspired by downtown Manitowoc. Artists working in all media are encouraged to participate. There will be an opening reception on Friday, September 14, and a closing reception on Friday, September 21, where prizes will be awarded. The artwork created during Art Slam will be on display at the Rahr-West Art Museum September 21-November 11, 2018. In conjunction with this event, Guild members are working to organize other art happenings such as a poetry event and public mural project.

Liysa Callsen presents a fun filled, laughter fueled show. The evening will be filled with stories from her one woman show CODADIVA, and her book TELL 'EM. There is always improv wherever she goes, so be ready. And, something special - a few new stories to go along with her new career path - she was shoved into being a carpenter's grunt.

Art Slam Manitowoc Details and Schedule of Events Friday, September 14, 2018: “Opening Reception for Artists and Donors” for the artists and VIP sponsors will be held at the Riverview Room at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum from 6-8pm. There will be live music, drinks and light snacks. This will be an opportunity for artists to meet each other and share ideas as well as meet people in the community. Artists that have not pre-registered may register at this event. Saturday, September 15, 2018: Artists will be working in the downtown area from 9am-5pm. Area merchants are encouraged to promote their businesses with sales, discounts, special offers, etc. Artenlunch at Manitowoc Library, in the Balkansky room, from noon-1:30. Public is invited to bring their lunch to meet and greet the artists. Participate in a public mural project between 9am-5pm at the corner of Jay & 9th Streets. Poetry Event at Kathie's Stage Door Pub, 6-8pm. Sunday, September 16, 2018: Artists will be working in the downtown area from 9am-4pm. Artists turn in their finished pieces from 4-6pm at the Rahr-West Art Museum. Friday, September 21, 2018: “Public Awards Celebration and Exhibit Opening” at Rahr-West Art Museum from 6-8pm. Awards will be given out at this time. The Ron Stokes-People's Choice Award voting will take place from 6-7pm. Jurors will award the Lester W. Bentley Award and the Bodacious Bundy-Jost Award. The public is invited for light snacks, drinks and music. September 21- November 11, 2018: Artwork will be on exhibit at the Rahr-West Art Museum.
